Who We Are
ProtestEdge is a property tax analysis service for Harris County, Texas homeowners. We help homeowners determine whether their home may be over-assessed by the Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) and prepare equity-based evidence for their protest. We are not affiliated with the Harris Central Appraisal District.

What Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to run your analysis:
- Your email address — to deliver your analysis report.
- Your HCAD account number — a 13-digit public property identifier used to pull your property data from HCAD's publicly available bulk records.
We do not collect your name, phone number, payment information (at this time), or any information about your income, mortgage, or finances.
How We Use Your Information
- Your HCAD account number is used solely to retrieve your property data from HCAD's public bulk data files and run the equity analysis.
- Your email address is used to deliver your analysis report and, if you opt in, to send occasional updates about the ProtestEdge service — such as protest season reminders and new feature announcements.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
How We Store and Protect Your Information
Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud infrastructure. We retain analysis request data for up to 12 months, after which it is deleted. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Vercel (website hosting) — vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
- Google Cloud (data processing and storage) — cloud.google.com/terms/cloud-privacy-notice
- HubSpot (email delivery and CRM) — legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy
- PostHog (anonymous usage analytics) — posthog.com/privacy
Your Rights
You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@protestedge.com. We will respond within 30 days. We do not currently operate in the EU, but we respect data deletion requests from all users regardless of location.
Children's Privacy
ProtestEdge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
