What ProtestEdge Is
ProtestEdge provides automated equity analysis for Harris County, Texas residential properties using HCAD's publicly available bulk data. We generate an analysis report showing whether your property may be over-assessed relative to comparable properties in your neighborhood.
We are not a law firm, a licensed appraiser, or a tax consultant. Our analysis is informational only and does not constitute legal, appraisal, or tax advice. We are not affiliated with the Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) or any government entity.
Who Can Use ProtestEdge
You must be 18 or older and a property owner or authorized representative of a Harris County residential property to use this service. By submitting your HCAD account number and email address, you confirm that you are authorized to request analysis for that property.
What You're Paying For (Paid Reports — Launching 2027)
The free analysis currently available is a summary-level equity check. Paid full protest evidence reports will be available for the 2027 protest season. When paid reports launch, the fee will be a flat one-time charge per report. Pricing will be displayed clearly before any purchase.
Refund policy: If you purchase a paid report and ProtestEdge does not recommend protesting your property, or if your ARB hearing does not result in a reduction, you are entitled to a full refund. To request a refund, email support@protestedge.com with your order confirmation. Refunds are processed within 30 business days.
What We Don't Guarantee
Property tax protest outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including ARB panel decisions, HCAD responses, and changes to the tax code. We do not guarantee any specific dollar reduction in your assessed value. Our analysis reflects the data available at the time of report generation; HCAD data can change between the date of our analysis and your protest hearing.
Your Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when submitting your HCAD account number
- Use our reports only for your own legitimate property tax protest purposes
- Not resell, redistribute, or use our analysis for commercial purposes without written permission
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy our analysis methodology or software
Intellectual Property
All content on protestedge.com — including the analysis methodology, report format, and website design — is the property of ProtestEdge. Your protest report is licensed to you for personal use only.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, ProtestEdge is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of our service, including any outcome at your ARB hearing. Our total liability to you for any claim related to a paid report is limited to the amount you paid for that report.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Continued use of ProtestEdge after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes will be resolved in Harris County, Texas.
